Introduction

There is no single universal “best” backpacking destination. Every trip is different and depends on the type of experience you are looking for, your budget, your level of experience, and your mood at the time.

The destinations presented here are simply suggestions based on criteria such as ease of transportation, cost of living, overall safety, richness of experiences, and accessibility for travelers. These are not absolute truths or a definitive ranking — there are, of course, many other excellent countries to explore while backpacking.

All the countries mentioned offer something unique and can provide very meaningful backpacking experiences, depending on how they are approached and the style of travel you are looking for.
